FWPPA President’s Message

November 2018

Fall and the Holidays are here!

It is such an exciting time of the year - the hot weather has left us and the chill of fall is in the air.  Holidays are approaching and time for family and friends is becoming more important.

We, your Board of Directors are gearing up for a great month with gifts for you!  Free Workshops, specialty events and the upcoming Annual Awards and Holiday party!

I hope to see everyone there!

Malinda.

PS!  Don't forget...this month will be the LAST print competition of the year.  Get your images in for awards and tickets.

Next meeting: Randy Pollard, M. Photog., CPP- "Cut 'Em Out and Paste 'Em In"- November 14, 2018--TWO CHANCES to hear Randy Pollard- All day FREE (to FWPPA members-$80.00 for non-members) workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and at our regular monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m.

November 14, 2018

Composites and more with Randy Pollard, M. Photographer, Craftsman, and CPP.

Randy's program "Cut 'Em Out and Paste 'Em In!" will give you the confidence you need to move into or expand your compositing for your customers. The full-day program goes step by step, beginning with a live creation session to produce raw materials for the day's extractions and composites. Randy will demonstrate the key points of creating an image that practically extracts itself. Then we move into the extraction phase and compositing in the afternoon.

This will be held in the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens Main Building in the Auditorium.

LIve demonstrations and follow along techniques from shooting for extraction all the way to the final product.

This Full Day Workshop is sponsored by Fort Worth Professional Photographers Association. The FWPPA Regular meeting will proceed that night with Randy Pollard at 6:30 p.m.

Open to all skill levels.

This is an approved PPA Continuing Education System course - if you are a member of PPA you will receive a merit for attending!

I know you will all do an amazing job.

Last month I waxed poetic about fall being on the way, etc, etc, blah, blah, blah!  Well...it seems that we skipped right over fall and went STRAIGHT to WINTER!  As I sit writing this, the temperature outside is 39 degrees (in the middle of the day) and it is pouring rain!  That is Texas for you.  I suspect we will be in shorts again sometime in November.  I remember many a Christmas morning with doors and windows open (and even the air conditioner on) and certainly NO fire in the fireplace.  I like the seasons to behave the way they are supposed to behave.  But, I picked the wrong state to live in for that nonsense.  Oh well, it certainly has its advantages and I intend to take advantage of them when I can.

Be sure to check out the full day workshop coming up with Phyllis Kuykendall on November 9, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  She will be teaching about painting in photoshop!  Also don't forget about Randy Pollard's full day workshop along with our regular monthly meeting on November 14, 2018!  Attend both if you can!  You will get a PPA Merit for the full day workshop about compositing.  You don't want to miss any of these.

Also, more to come soon about our annual Holiday Party and Annual Awards.  There will be some great surprises!
