Next meeting: Landon Day--August 8, 2018 at 6:30 p.m.

August 08, 2018

It is time to sign up for the next FWPPA meeting on August 8, 2018! Come hear Landon Day, Cr.Photog., CPP, speak about "HOW MY SIDE HUSTLE BECAME MY FULL TIME GIG! Landon says "going from a photographer friend helping out a realtor friend has turned into 250 agents a year and upwards of 40 homes photographed a week. If you ask me I’m a high school senior photographer but the numbers no longer agree with that. Real estate photography has given me loan images and even better images in the Wall Street Journal. I run this as a volume business, not boutique. Come hear how I do this without effecting my “real job” of portraits."

Monthly Competition--Terry Ip, VP of Competition

The Monthly Print Competition allows us to see some of the terrific work of some of our members.

October 12, 2017

Registration for the I Heart Photography Conference and Expo, October 12-14, 2018, is Now Open! is being held in our own backyard...Grapevine, Texas!

From the TPPA Website:

"The I Heart Photography Conference features two and a half days of programming for photographers with a wide range of interests.  Pro photographers will enjoy an outstanding lineup of programs from marketing and inspiration and from babies to families in our Pro Track of programs designed to address the needs and expand the success of professional photographers.

Photographic enthusiasts as well as pros will enjoy our Inspiration Track of classes featuring a variety of programs to foster creativity and inspiration.  Program topics include; street photography, photographic night skies, wildlife, landscapes as well as flower and bird photography.

We are also excited about our lineup of “hands on” Excursions that take place on Friday.  These are on-location events which feature a coach who will help you understand what goes into capturing a dynamic image.  Excursions offered include a trip to the Fort Worth Zoo with Dennis Kelley, a real estate shoot with Ethan Tweedie, Street Photography with Josh Jordan, Drone Photography with Justin Moore and Food Photography with Malinda Julien.

We also have arranged a very special excursion to AT&T Stadium.  This is a very unique event because the stadium does not usually allow cameras with detachable lenses or lenses longer than three inches.  They are making an exception for I Heart Photography participants and allow us to photograph inside the stadium with generous access throughout.

One of the things that makes this event a little different than others we have hosted, is that this event will likely sell out due to the smaller meeting rooms at the Grapevine Convention Center.  We are anticipating a complete sell out, so you are encouraged to register early!

Registration for the conference is $127."

From Your Editor!

August 01, 2018

It has been a whirlwind summer for me.  And, from what I hear, others are experiencing the same thing.  I have seen many posts of some amazing work and travel opportunities from many FWPPA members.  My husband and I were able to get away for a short, FUN, trip to New Orleans for a few days to celebrate our 35th Anniversary.  We were there for our honeymoon and have not been back together since.  It was a well needed break and what a fun, amazing and sometimes SHOCKING place New Orleans is!  When we arrived for our honeymoon 35 years ago, we discovered there was a laryngectomee convention going on at our romantic!  This time, my husband and I found ourselves (accidentally I assure you) right in the middle of a SWINGERS convention...I will let you decide if this qualifies as MORE or LESS romantic than the laryngectomee convention!!  For us, it was just hilarious!!!  It certainly takes all kinds and provided us with lots of entertaining people watching on Bourbon Street!  I highly recommend a trip to New never know what you are going to run into!  Not to mention it is a great place for taking amazing photographs!

Don't forget, I HEART PHOTOGRAPHY!, TPPA's annual conference is coming up October 12-14, 2018, at Grapevine Convention Center!  Registration is now open.  The the link in the post above!

I hope everyone can make it to the August 8 meeting.  Landon Day, CR. Photog., CPP will be speaking on real estate photography!  It will be a great subject!

See you there!
