FWPPA President’s Message

September 2018

Ho, Ho, Ho, Merry Christmas!

Oh yes, it is that time of year where all of us get ready for a very busy season!

What are you plans for the holidays? Do you have your offerings, price list, and marketing ready?

It is a little hard to think of a holiday themed sets while it is still 100˚ outside! No one wants to think of that Santa suit with all the fur and velvet. But WE do!

Holiday themed photography for family portraits, Santa visits, and pets with Santa can add to that holiday bank account.

Need some help getting started? Let’s share our holiday sessions ideas on our Facebook™ page!

The September meeting will be held on the 5th this year, one week early, due to some scheduling conflicts and we welcome a celebrated and talented guest speaker, Rafael Serrano presenting “Storytelling VS Photography”. This one is definitely something you will want to attend.

Can’t get any better? Oh yes it can! It is our Potluck night! Sign up online or talk to our coordinators: Cindy Bowman, Mark Burdette or Lola Hardisty, with what you are bringing!

It is also time to think about how you want to get involved – want to be on the Board of Directors? A fabulous way to learn more about our members, help grow the guild, and serve the guild you love. Be thinking of who you want to nominate for a position, or if you would like to nominate yourself, that is great too! Announcements will begin soon for nominations! Let’s make 2019 even better than 2018!

I am resigning from the Board as of the end of 2018, I have been on the BOD for 3 years and love serving you, but time for new visions, and to share the love is here. Give it some thought – without leadership, direction and vision, the guild can’t grow! Maybe YOU are the next leader!

The entry to 4th Quarter 2018 is going to be spectacular! You got this!

See you in September!

 Malinda Julien

I HEART PHOTOGRAPHY!!

October 12, 2017

Registration for the I Heart Photography Conference and Expo, October 12-14, 2018, is Now Open!  AND...it is being held in our own backyard...Grapevine, Texas!

From the TPPA Website:

"The I Heart Photography Conference features two and a half days of programming for photographers with a wide range of interests.  Pro photographers will enjoy an outstanding lineup of programs from marketing and inspiration and from babies to families in our Pro Track of programs designed to address the needs and expand the success of professional photographers.

Photographic enthusiasts as well as pros will enjoy our Inspiration Track of classes featuring a variety of programs to foster creativity and inspiration.  Program topics include; street photography, photographic night skies, wildlife, landscapes as well as flower and bird photography.

We are also excited about our lineup of “hands on” Excursions that take place on Friday.  These are on-location events which feature a coach who will help you understand what goes into capturing a dynamic image.  Excursions offered include a trip to the Fort Worth Zoo with Dennis Kelley, a real estate shoot with Ethan Tweedie, Street Photography with Josh Jordan, Drone Photography with Justin Moore and Food Photography with Malinda Julien.

We also have arranged a very special excursion to AT&T Stadium.  This is a very unique event because the stadium does not usually allow cameras with detachable lenses or lenses longer than three inches.  They are making an exception for I Heart Photography participants and allow us to photograph inside the stadium with generous access throughout.

One of the things that makes this event a little different than others we have hosted, is that this event will likely sell out due to the smaller meeting rooms at the Grapevine Convention Center.  We are anticipating a complete sell out, so you are encouraged to register early!

Registration for the conference is $127."

From Your Editor!

August 01, 2018

Well, the kids are all back in school and before we know it, Christmas will be here.  There is so much talent in FWPPA.  For inspiration, just start up a conversation with someone at the next meeting and find out what marketing ideas they have for the holiday season this year.  You might just pick up a useful nugget!

FWPPA made quite a showing at International Print Competition.  What an honor to rub elbows with the best.  You all made us proud!  Keep up the amazing work.

Hang in there everyone...summer is almost a memory!
